The Director Supply Chain Contracting is responsible for all aspects of supply chain contracting for all organizations within WellStar Health System including acute care Hospitals, WellStar Medical Group and WellStar Service Lines (Cardiology, Surgery, Patient Care, Support Services, IT, Laboratory, Pharmacy and Radiology). Responsible for establishing and maintaining overall strategy and direction for a high performing team of Contract Specialists & Sr. Contract Specialists. Performs a variety of activities pertaining to the development and management of contracting policies, procedures, and practices. Responsibilities include all contracts for supplies, equipment and purchased services across the enterprise.
Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA Preferred.
Required Minimum Experience: Eight (8) – ten (10) years supply chain, purchasing or contracting experience preferably in a hospital setting; with a minimum of 5 years management experience with preference at an Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) or health care manufacturer/distributor corporate setting. Experience in negotiating Physician Preference Items (PPI) and clinical purchased services preferred. Must be effective in negotiating strategic contracts with a minimum threshold of $500K. Must possess a passion for negotiating agreements that improve the patient experience while obtaining costs at a best in class level to be expected in an organization the size of WellStar Health System. Hands-on experience with Lawson is a plus.
Required Minimum Skills: Results oriented and meets deadlines. Strong analytical, contract, and negotiation skills. Proven management skills and demonstrated knowledge of hospital and clinical staff functions, medical/surgical supplies, diagnostic testing, etc. Effective communications skills required in order to collaborate with a variety of clinical and business leaders across the organization, including executive level and physicians. Effective in working with supply chain peers across the organization. Must possess strong leadership, organization, and educational skills. Ability to facilitate multi-functional work groups in a team environment. Proficient in MS Office with emphasis on Excel. Must possess strong written and verbal communications skills.
