The purpose of this position is to lead the Cooperative Services of Florida Clinical Value Analysis (CVA) processes in a way that aligns the CVA efforts of owners and members to minimize variability in clinical processes, increasing quality and reducing cost. To proactively direct the organization in service-line focused, data driven, leading edge clinical value analysis processes that advance drug, supply, technology and services optimization. To engage hospital on-site clinical resources and physicians to review cost utilization and evidence based outcomes data, all in efforts to remove variability in clinical processes and support services. To build relationships and execute processes designed to eliminate clinical variability, to identify and achieve reductions in supply costs, to evaluate and research requests for new technology/products, and to determine the impact on operational costs and revenue. This position also assists with coordination of new product/technology implementation with clinical support teams, LeeSar/CSF and hospital supply chain operations.
Lead all aspects of Clinical Value Analysis for LeeSar/CSF, owners and members, providing the resource for maintaining balance between optimal clinical outcomes, promoting excellence in quality of care with appropriate product utilization and supply stewardship.
Lead efforts to identify, execute, and utilize data analytics platforms to benchmark and compare product costs and clinical utilization variability among members and physicians.
Develop the strategy and organizational framework necessary to provide oversight on: minimize clinical procedure supply utilization variability; product standardization and cost reduction opportunities; the introduction of new technology and products; goal deployment and results measurement.
Facilitates the resolution of clinical issues resulting from the standardization or introduction of products and vendors.
Establish sustainable expectations, work plans, and time-lines for clinical, surgical, heart services, orthopedics and other value analysis committees that have a specific focus on reviewing the appropriate use of cost effective products, services, and technologies.
Recognizes emerging trends in new clinical technologies and quantifies the financial impact of adoption and proliferation of associated products.
As a member of LeeSar/CSF Senior Leadership, works with Physicians, Strategic Sourcing, and Finance to mediate the political sensitivity and understand the impact a product change may have on expenses and revenue of the service line, business unit, hospital, and organization.
Prepares for and participates in month-end executive team financial meetings, as directed, for any one of LeeSar/CSF owner/member hospitals. Understands monthly and year-to-date drug and supply expenses and budget variances and is able to articulate clearly and concisely the amounts and causes. Provides detail specific to the impact that newly approved products and technology had on expenses. Reports cost reduction opportunities in progress as well as current requests for higher cost products and technology.
Facilitates meetings with physicians and clinical teams relative to requests for new products and technology or to address cost reduction opportunities on physician preference items; utilizing benchmark comparisons, current product costs, supply costs per physician procedure, drug & supply trend data, and other analytics as needed to present the opportunity.
Works closely with hospital or service line executive to better understand current status physician relationships and to ensure appropriate diplomacy is used.
Working with hospital clinical leadership, LeeSar/CSF Sourcing and Purchasing, and owner/member Clinical Engineering, facilitates new technology (white paper) research, evaluations, cost impact analytics, and installations.
Elevates the skill level of the LeeSar/CSF leadership team through formal and informal system and process training. Develops staff through active participation in career planning, coaching and modeled behavior.
Works with LeeSar/CSF and owner/members to research and advise on possible product substitutions in the event of a prolonged product backorder or product recall.
Manages the performance of direct reports, contributes to the team’s professional growth through feedback, coaching and support and holds team accountable for contributions.
