DIRECTOR OF MATERIALS MANAGEMENT
Natividad Medical Center (NMC) is currently seeking a full-time permanent Director of Materials Management. Reporting directly to the Hospital Chief Financial Officer, the incumbent will plan, organize and direct the Materials Management Division at Natividad Medical Center.
Supervising and directing the activities of all personnel performing materials management and mailroom functions
Directing the product and purchased services review process for decision making in supply acquisition and utilization decisions
Managing purchasing contract compliance function
Developing/improving departmental processes, policies/procedures and job descriptions
Monitoring monthly reporting of performance against standards and budgets; reconciling variances on a monthly basis
Developing an annual departmental business plan and supporting budgets
Controlling capital equipment acquisitions
Controlling inventory levels both in the general storeroom, PAR locations and Pyxis supply cabinets
Assisting in developing the NMC Materials Mgt. Information System to be used
Supporting the needs of clinical staff in providing consistent and cost-effective supply chain management, as well as providing guidance to staff in their efforts to meet their expense targets
Overall responsibility and management for the Buyers within NMC
Minimum qualifications include 4 years of increasingly responsible supervisory, administrative or management experience in a hospital, including at least two years in hospital materials management and a Bachelor's degree with a major in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration or a related field. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of hospital materials management systems; managing contractual relationships with third-party providers for distribution services; developing and monitoring departmental budget; reviewing/improving existing policies and procedures to achieve more efficient operations; regulations and laws governing the operation of hospitals in California; redesigning work flow between Purchasing, Receiving and Accounts Payable for improved efficiencies; and developing/enhancing Product Standards program to include the evaluation of physician/clinician preference items, including facilitation of process for physician/clinician participation and cost-benefit analysis to substantiate decisions in product selection.
