The Director assumes responsibility for negotiating contracts, maintaining high contract compliance, and managing supply utilization for their book of business. The Director drives cost redirection initiatives throughout the Ochsner Health System by serving as a project manager, and consultant to the clinical and non-clinical areas, driving organization-wide product change and serving as an internal advocate of product standardization/utilization initiatives. The Director assists with coordinating new product introduction and overall product change initiatives on behalf of end users, manages towards procuring the highest quality, clinically appropriate items at the lowest total cost and serves as a liaison and advisor to the Director of Strategic Sourcing
Reviews current and existing contracts to identify contract expirations and coordinates with appropriate stakeholder(s) to determine contract renewal disposition.
Manages communications and clinical literature research to support target actions.
Supports OHS leadership and clinicians with the necessary product utilization, pricing and quality data to allow them to purchase the most cost effective product available.
Consults with users throughout OHS in identifying, analyzing and facilitating implementation of non-salary expense cost reductions.
Develops quantitative/qualitative analyses and methodologies for driving cost reduction efforts
Required - Bachelor's degree
Preferred - Master’s degree
Required - 10 years in experience in Purchasing in healthcare.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
Knowledge of MMIS systems including the ability to manage a preprogrammed data base
Self-directed and able to manage major projects with minimum supervision
Excellent organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to exercise good judgment in handling difficult situations
