Responsible for developing, implementing and administering a regional system-wide supply chain management program to assure the supply, equipment, and services needs of patients and user departments are met, while creating value through cost savings and streamlining operational efficiencies.
Responsible for attaining the lowest cost for goods and services consistent with desired quality, quantity, and delivery requirements, to ensure timely, efficient customer-oriented services, reduction of the organization’s legal and financial risk on material matters, adequate controls and standards, and compliance with the organization’s policies and governmental regulations.
In achieving the organizational goals, will leverage the buying power of the system in categories of spend that are common across all operations, employing state of the art supply chain purchasing methods and technologies, implementing standardization and consistent policies, and developing strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This program will include Purchasing, Contracting, asset disposable, system integrity, Operations & Logistics, Value Analysis, and Material Management Information System (MMIS) for the Lafayette General Health System.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be an excellent communicator, both orally and written, to all levels of customers, the vendor community, senior leadership, and other professionals contributing to the activity of the system.
Plans, organizes and directs system-wide material management programs
Establishes policies and procedures with the approval of executive leadership for same
Directs, supervises, evaluates and provides overall management for key leaders within the material management team
Creates and directs a strategic centralized material management system for materials and services in creating cost savings and value, while driving vendor and system compliance
Forms and leads cost reduction improvement teams, impacting value analysis, product standards, and capital acquisition processes
Accountable for assuring departmental budgeting expenses are properly managed within administrative guidelines, along with timely and accurate operational reports to Administration
Develops department staff through ongoing coaching, in-service education, on-the-job training and evaluation
Maintains a high degree of managerial competence through continuing education or participation in profession related seminars/professional organizations
Works closely with the current Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) and Lafayette supply chain leadership in order to meet compliance and opportunity goals
Is knowledgeable regarding computerized material management information system, electronic ordering/receiving/billing and available reports with regard to these systems and activity
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
Certification in the purchasing field is preferred
Five to ten years in progressive leadership roles in healthcare purchasing, procurement and materials management, with electronic MMIS experience. Successful results in all aspects of the healthcare supply chain, operations, value analysis, budgeting, vendor relations, equipment maintenance, and profitability. Successful achievement of benchmark performances in supply costs as a percentage of net revenues. Proven skills in leading interdisciplinary teams and providing high levels of service quality. Previous leadership/management responsibilities and proven track record of team building.
