Job Summary

In support of the Value Analysis Functions, works with the Sourcing, Logistics and internal stakeholders to plan and source agreed upon goods and services in consideration of their total cost of acquisition and the financial and other impact to the hospital.  Responsible for the review, analysis and administration of local and group purchasing organization (GPO) contracts for assigned commodities.

Bachelors degree in business administration, purchasing or supply chain OR At least five (5) years work experience in a buying position with emphasis on one or all of the following commodity groups: medical/surgical supplies and equipment, clinical and research lab supplies, computer systems and peripherals, furniture and fixtures.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

• Analyze and prepare data to identify Sourcing opportunities and support Sourcing/category strategy. 

• Partners with Sourcing Team in preparing formal Request for Proposal (RFP) process for assigned categories. Conduct market intelligence research as well as supplier financial and performance research.

  Evaluate findings and prepares analysis for review by Sourcing Manager and cross-functional Teams

  Write specifications and RFP’s.

• Partners with Sourcing Team in driving contract compliance and product standards. Partners with Sourcing Team to track changes to procurement and service contracts (GPO and local) to ensure changes are appropriately executed (communicated to stakeholders, negotiated with suppliers, changed in the ERP, etc.) Assists to provide data and train stakeholders to drive contract compliance and special order reductions. Assist Sourcing Team with new product introductions as needed.

• Assist (lead where appropriate) various Sourcing projects designed to standardize process and reduce total cost. Participate in and/or lead (as appropriate) cross-functional strategic Sourcing projects with other departments to improve processes and reduce costs associated with assigned categories/commodities, assure appropriate analysis covers all processes and potential savings

  deploy LEAN/CPI principles in all improvement efforts, create and present detailed project status,

  follows up on assigned actions (cross-functionally),

  present project plans and outcome to various stakeholders in a variety of venues.

• Provide customer service/assistance for internal customers and Sourcing Team. 

• Assist Sourcing Team in developing and managing supplier performance.

• Works with assigned departments to understand their needs and offer assistance; communicate findings and progress to Sourcing Team; clarify complex customer order specifications that require lengthy market studies; organize and manage supplier scorecard process.

• Organize, update, and retain project charters, project trackers, supplier scorecards, product information files, Sourcing journal, and supplier profiles.

• Research product requests for cost savings as well as a good fit for this hospital and our patients. 

• Provide certain information needed to have the products presented to the powers that be to determine whether it’s for a single one time use, by case bases or something we would consider stocking. 

• Knowledge in 510k, competitive pricing/products, reimbursement information, cost analysis, etc.

• Complete and maintain required documentation.

• Negotiates with suppliers to meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

• Evaluates current and potential suppliers in coordination with Sourcing Teams.

• Partners with Sourcing Team in contract negotiation and development.

• Perform other job related duties as assigned.
