We're seeking a Clinical Engineering Manager to be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of the daily and long range activities as it relates to the purchase, planned maintenance, repair/calibration, and disposal of biomedical and imaging equipment used by Bayhealth.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities
Responsible for developing department budgets (operational and capital) and allocates budgeted funds to support the operational needs and the strategic objectives of the organization.
Interprets policies to employees and enforces safety regulations as well as interprets specifications and job orders to employees. Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists employees in solving work problems.
Responsible for decisions to hire. Evaluate performance and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action for department staff. Mentors staff members in continual training, teaching and reinforcement of service, technical, analytical, planning and developmental skills. Manage in a diverse environment with focus on Bayhealth’s 5 Pillars of Service Excellence. Manages the scheduling of staff, campus assignments, and on-call response.
Responsible for establishing long and short-range goals and objectives in maintaining all clinical equipment and quality improvement management program that successfully meets the requirements of the Joint Commission and all Federal and State regulatory agencies.
Responsible for developing the processes to ensure that all maintenance activities of clinical equipment are accurately, thoroughly, and appropriately documented 90% of the time. Ensures any shortfalls are addressed in a timely fashion to meet expectations. Identifies appropriate avenues for repairing equipment, either in-house or outsourcing.
Establishes department policies and procedures that are consistent with Bayhealth policies and procedures and which promote the organized operation of the department.
Manages department-wide projects to meet needed timelines, quality, functionality, and budgets, according to the Clinical Engineering department and Bayhealth goals and objectives.
Schedules and leads trainings as appropriate, ensuring all department staff are up-to-date with medical technology and equipment.
Responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of systems to provide planned and corrective maintenance to all types of medical equipment so that services meet needed quality, timeliness, and cost effectiveness as defined in the department metrics.
All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
Requirements include: Bachelor's degree in Business/Engineering related field, or Associate's Degree in an engineering related field plus successful completion of military biomedical equipment maintenance course are required. Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or an Engineering related field is preferred. Broad knowledge of organization with management skills. 8 years business experience with 3 years progressive management / Leadership experience in Clinical Engineering field are a must. Six (6) years of management experience in Clinical Engineering field, prior budgetary and P & L experience and Certification in at least one area of Biomedical, Radiology, or Laboratory as defined by AAMI are preferred.
